Downie Mathis started A Therapy Connection in the Dallas area in February of 2006 as a solo practice speech therapy provider. By October of the same year, Downie had finally convinced Traci Redding to come work for the growing company. Both women had worked closely with pediatric Occupational and Physical Threapists at their previous employer and knew the tremendous value and complement these services could offer their speech patients. In August of 2007, ATC hired it's first Occupational Therapist.
The practice grew rapidly due to word-of-mouth referrals from parents of patients who had received exceptional care.
In the summer of 2008, the clinic was expanded and a well equipped sensory gym was added, as were 4 additional treatment rooms and a fully-stocked supply closet.Because Traci and Downie have a shared interest in pediatric feeding issues, they spent time researching feeding programs available in the Dallas area and made the decision to offer an approach that was different from most others offered in the metroplex. Today, A therapy Connection offers a successful sensory based feeding approach that is a hybrid of the SOS program paired with a few other techniques. The rapid growth of the practice made it difficult to maintain alone, so Ms. Redding moved into a partnership role in early 2010.
Today, A Therapy Connection employs over 20 qualified therapists and 5 support staff personnel. Because of our large staff, we are able to offer extended after school and weekend therapy appointments; the most coveted therapy appointments for pediatric patients!
We also provide free vision, hearing and developmental screenings to your school or daycare at no charge. Please have your school's director call for details.
